Pushkar is small, walkable and unlike anywhere else in Rajasthan. Fifty-two ghats ring a lake that Hindus hold sacred, and above them sits one of the very few temples in the world dedicated to Brahma. It works beautifully as a half-day pairing with Ajmer, or as an overnight stop between Jaipur and Jodhpur.

October to March. The Pushkar Camel Fair falls on the Kartik Purnima full moon, usually in November — the town is extraordinary then, but accommodation must be booked months ahead and prices rise sharply. Note that Pushkar is a strictly vegetarian town and alcohol is not sold.
Jaipur International Airport (JAI) is the nearest at 145 km, about 2 hours 45 minutes by road. Kishangarh Airport (KQH) is closer at 60 km but has very limited services.
Ajmer Junction (AII), 15 km away, is the practical railhead, with direct trains from Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

Most visitors fly into Jaipur and drive across, which takes under three hours on NH-48. We run this transfer daily, often combined with a stop at Ajmer Sharif.

We run local sightseeing cars, airport and station transfers and outstation taxis in Pushkar. A local package covers a set number of hours and kilometres with the driver waiting at each stop, which is far more practical than hailing a new ride at every monument. For longer trips, the same car and driver can stay with you across the whole itinerary.
